Cookware

Checked against the ingredient list for ten allergens: milk, egg, fish, crustaceans, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, mustard, soy and gluten. Brands vary, so read the label on anything new to you.

Method

  1. Deseed the amla and chop it roughly. The flesh browns within minutes, so work quickly.
  2. Blend with 60ml water until no lumps remain.
  3. Strain through a fine sieve, pressing the pulp against it. Stir in the lemon juice, honey and black salt.
  4. Drink at once. Amla oxidises fast and turns dull and flat within the hour.

Storage

Made to order. It will hold four hours refrigerated, losing sharpness and colour as it goes.

Times, yields, allergens and nutrition are guidance. Use your own judgement on doneness and on storing. More in About.
